The Project Futurus
A heartfelt gratitude to DBS Hong Kong and DBS Foundation for launching the “IMPACTable” initiative and supporting The Project Futurus and Tao Heung’s Chung’s House through DBS Foundation Grant 2024 to promote an inclusive dining culture. We co-developed 9 care food and softmeal dishes that comply with the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) — meals that are specially designed for older adults with chewing or swallowing difficulties to restore the joy of eating and encourage families to share a meal together 🧓👵
🍴We were honoured to have several special guests with us, including Mr. Cheuk Wing-hing, GBS, JP, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration, HKSAR Government who officiated at the event.; Mr. Ho Kai Ming, JP , Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, HKSAR Government; Mr. Chris Chung, Director of Operations, Tao Heung Group for the IMPACTable initiative.
👥Mr. and Mrs. Chung from the Methodist Centre, as well as caregiver Pearl and mother also joined the luncheon to share the joy of this meaningful inclusive luncheon.
💬 The event also featured a fireside chat, where guests from across the sectors shared insights on inclusive dining, elderly care, and cross-sector collaboration.
Queenie Man, Founder and CEO of The Project Futurus, spoke about her journey in promoting softmeal culture and how DBS Foundation has helped to support social enterprises to scale up and grow their impact.
Many cities around the world are dealing with the challenges of an ageing population, and Hong Kong is no different. According to the Census and Statistics Department, by 2043, more than one in three people in Hong Kong will be aged 65 or above. To prepare for this, the “Working Group on Promoting Silver Economy” has proposed 30 practical measures in five key areas: boosting “silver consumption”, developing “silver industry”, promoting “quality assurance of silver products”, enhancing “silver financial and security arrangements”, and unleashing “silver productivity”. These efforts will require strong teamwork between the government, community, and businesses.
