【Futurus Academy🏫】 The Project Futurus x Victoria Shanghai Academy 滬江維多利亞學校 - Next generation of Caring Leaders!

The Project Futurus recently collaborated with Victoria Shanghai Academy (VSA) Year 8 Food Design Students to bring the joy of dining to elders living with swallowing difficulties!

During the workshop, students delved into topics such as Hong Kong's aging population 🧓👵, dementia, and dysphagia. They explored how texture-modified meals can enhance dining experiences for individuals with swallowing difficulties, conducting experiments with thickener and creating Siu Mai softmeals. By preparing and sampling these visually refined dishes themselves, students developed a profound empathy for the elderly and those with dysphagia, acknowledging the significance of dignity dining👍.

During our community service, students transformed into “Restaurant waiters” to deliver softmeal lunchboxes to elderly residents at TWGHs Jockey Club Sunshine Complex for the Elderly. This hands-on involvement enabled them to engage closely with seniors facing dementia and swallowing challenges, fostering meaningful intergenerational connections.

Students’compassion, eagerness to help, patience, and understanding truly shone through in this meaningful initiative. We're so proud of these students for making a positive impact in our community and bringing joy to our seniors! 💖
