Recently, The Project Futurus ventured out of Hong Kong to Singapore, teaming up with The Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and hosting a series of three "Sensory Restaurant on Wheels™" , bringing the concept of "Dinning with Dignity" beyond Hong Kong!
Many regions across the globe are currently facing aging populations, with seniors often experiencing both cognitive decline and swallowing difficulties, a trend that is on the rise, including in Singapore. We partnered with three Singaporean nursing homes to innovatively alter the texture of food while retaining its original form, ensuring that meals are visually appealing, aromatic, and flavorful. By enhancing the dining experience, we aim to improve the quality of life for local seniors. We recreated a nostalgic Chinese tea ambiance at St. Joseph’s Home, Methodist Welfare Services Bethany Nursing Home, and Salvation Army Peacehaven Nursing Home, offering a variety of Cantonese dim sum along with transformed Singaporean delicacies into softmeal, such as laksa, pandan cake, and chwee kueh.
In addition, we participated in a seminar titled 'Connecting Shared Humanity through Food, Art, & Culture,' where Queenie, Founder of The Project Futurus and Captain Softmeal, introduced and shared the development of softmeal in Hong Kong. Engaging with participants from diverse backgrounds, we delved into how food and cultural experiences can enhance people's sense of belonging and happiness within the community.
Through our collaboration with SUSS, we aspire to popularize the concept of "Dignified Dining" in Singapore and enable seniors with varying swallowing abilities enjoy delectable dishes with dignity, embodying the principle that "food is the heaven of the people."
